MENS GOLF SATURDAY 16/7/22

A field of 77 players finally got to play our Monthly Medal. The course is drying out quiet nicely.

On the 4th/ 13th hole we have a tape and post area protecting the new turf. If anyone hits a post or the tape, you can replay the shot, without penalty. If anyone lands on any of the new ground work, take your drop at nearest point of relief. Please keep your carts and scooters out of the rough, as the rough is still wet in places.

SLOW PLAY. … Yesterday we had our afternoon field hitting off 35 minutes later than their starting times. I understand it was a stroke round, and every shot counts, but we finish with the last groups getting in around 4.30 or 4.45. Please try to keep up with the group in front.

Joke of the day

An avid golf fan who was no longer a practicing golfer, was standing in a ticket line at the airport. A man in a line parallel to his, had a big golf bag slung over his shoulder. Since the line was long and airline ticketing is a slow process at best, the pair struck up a conversation. The man travelling with his clubs brightened when the fan admired his Golf bag, and he proudly stated that he was on the PGA tour. The Pro then returned the favor, asking the question all golfers ask, “Do you play?” The fan shook his head, “I used to, but I quit because I wasn’t very good. I shot consistently in the low 70’s. There was a long, low intake of breath, then, “The low 70’s” he asked. “Yes,” the fan said. “Consistently?” He asked, confused. “And you quit?” “Every nine holes,” the former golfer said.
