It is with the heaviest of hearts that I action the family request to I advise golfers about the passing of our Treasurer, Ray Tume – today around lunch time.
It is difficult to identify a more respected member of our Golf Club than Ray.
Many in the Club are able to say Ray was a friend and there is a closer circle of playing partners who will so miss his banter, golf skills and daily comradeship.
Ray was the backbone of the Golf Club for a decade and a half, providing the financial leadership that let the Golf Committees and Captains deliver golf programs that gave prizes and functions which golfers valued.
Since 2011, when the current single Golf Club was formed, Ray served all Men’s, Ladies’ and Veterans’ golfers with his considerable financial skills that spaned strategic and operational.
Ray set budgets and at the daily end, collected and banked money. It was clear that he loved to make all the Club administration work.
He delivered every time, front of room on Monday’s, assisting with the raffles and holding the barrel for the draw along with managing the dry till at Christmas and other functions.
It was his end to end delivery and calmness in any situation that was the cornerstone of the respect he generated.
Respect extended well beyond the Golf Club and Twin Towns Chair, Mike Fraser provided the comment – “I am very saddened. A remarkable man, extremely reserved and will certainly be missed in a myriad of ways by all concerned. He will be remembered for the dedication and sacrifice he made for Banora and the Golf club members.”
Ray’s golf skills held him in our top bracket and it was not uncommon for his name to appear top of the leader board or at least, in the prize list.
I am lucky enough to say Ray was a friend, adviser and confidant.
Ladies please remember to wear yellow on Thursday for “Doing It For Jarred Lyle Day “. A gold coin donation would be appreciated to support the charity set up in his name to aid leukaemia research.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Well a touch of summer today which included lots of smoke hanging over the course to make life difficult for some. The work of trimming trees along the 3/12 holes proceeded as we played off the prepared temporary tees and as expected there were many 3 and 4 points scored on these shortened holes. On advice from NSW Golf we were able to submit scores for handicapping as it was a one off occasion. Lots of ladies reduced their handicap today so make sure you check your scorecard to see your New playing h/c when next you play.
There were some great scores today and the winner with 43 points was Denise M Culpitt on a handicap of 31. Great game Denise. 1st r/up was Diane Hughes 41 pts who for the second time this week scored 40 points or more. Diane won a countback from Marilyn Burns also on 41 points. Well done ladies.
NTP were won today by Penny Martlew and Marg Meekings; Fran Janes and Marlene Wyatt; Liz Edwards and Kelly Wilkinson.
The Pro Pin was won by Penny Martlew $42
Rundown with $5 on your card went to 35 pts all in.
Next week we will be playing the Jarred Lyle Foundation Charity Day, a gold coin donation would be appreciated.
Have a good week, Pauline R. ⛳️⛳️⛳️⛳️
