World Golf Handicap System

To – All Australian Golf Clubs

Dear All,

Overnight, The R&A and the United States Golf Association released a public statement regarding the development of a World Handicap System – this statement is attached for your information.  The communication from The R&A and USGA follows a brief update on this subject that was provided to all Australian golf clubs by the Chairman of Golf Australia in July 2015.

The GA Chairman’s 2015 update includes important information on Golf Australia’s position in relation to the World Handicap System.  This information remains current and we continue to look forward to receiving from the R&A and USGA the final proposal on the make-up of the new system.  The 2015 statement is available from the following GA webpage – www.golf.org.au/world-handicap-system

Golf Australia would continue to manage and govern handicapping in Australia under a World Handicap System.  Golf Australia’s national computerised handicapping service, GOLF Link, would continue to perform the same role in Australia under a World Handicap System that it currently does.  The personal data of Australian golfers that is held within the GOLF Link database would not be shared with entities outside of Australia.  The only public display website for handicaps held by Australians under a World Handicap System would continue to be the Golf Australia website – www.golf.org.au.

Please contact me should you have any queries.

Kind regards,

Simon Magdulski

Sensational Team Verses Par Sunday Score

Congratulations to Barry and June McFadden for their sensational Team verses Par 4 Ball score on Sunday, a whopping +13.

The score was made up of +7 on the first nine and +6 on the back nine. Closer examination shows their round was worth 50 Stableford Points.

Below at Presentation June spoke of Barry’s great day with the putter. Barry pointed out such a strong score only occurs when both players make a significant contribution. Great round guys.

Barry and June qualified first to represent Club Banora in the NSW Keno Medley Four Ball Championship.

All the best in the next round of the Championship to be held at Byron Bay.

Popular Members Dominate Hole-In-One & Eagles Leader Board

Michael Noakes played the shot of the day at the Par 3 7th Hole, the ultimate shot – a ball that came off the head of the 9 Iron and skidded a bit.

Good friend and playing partner, Russell Evans called the ball flight as good and proved correct. The group and importantly Michael could not see the ball after it passed the front bunker and missed the joy of seeing it go in the hole. When the green was reached and the ball could not be found. Russ’s initial call proved significant. Congratulations Michael on your first Hole-In-One. Michael was caught by the photographer standing proud shortly after his achievement. Michael takes home a bottle of spirit and six balls. He will receive his Hole-In-One certificate at the Christmas party.

Eagles at the 18th Hole were also the order of the day.

Alan Hubbard hit a good drive at the 18th Hole and 9 Iron that left him with a long curling putt which fell to him Eagle.

Michael Wood also hit a long drive off the tee at the 18th which left him with a pitching wedge that stopped with 2 metres. Polished play straight out of the text book.

Well done Alan and Michael.
