Thank you to the 70 plus members who attended the 2015 Golf Section AGM. Also to the Twin Towns Chair, Mike Fraser and Deputy Chair, Brian Brown along with Twin Towns Executive Manager, Rod Pain for their support of the meeting.
Attendees were provided with a series of slides concerning 2014 outcomes and the year ahead. Following is a link to the slide presentation. AGM_Slides
The meeting’s General Business was very productive with a number of members raising issues about how the golf course area could be better used and/or manicured . Captains have taken an action item to follow up member suggestions and the Twin Towns Deputy Chair has indicated that it would be useful if a consolidated proposal of course possibilities was prepared by the Golf Committee.
The question of the pre-meeting golf competition start time was discussed particularly from a daylight saving perspective. Members strongly supported holding the AGM on a Saturday.
In response to a member question about balls verses vouchers as prizes, the Executive Manager outlined Twin Towns intention to implement a membership card which allows storage of credits for purchases within the Club. The card will be recognised by the banking system and member credits will be able to be used with any merchant that accepts a debit card. It is anticipated that current paper Twin Towns vouchers will be transitioned to the new card. The Golf Section will need to review its allocation of prizes including vouchers, balls and other prize items.
The President was asked about membership loss after the course conversion from 18 to 9 Holes. The overall loss was 125 with the Men reducing from 335 to 236 and the Ladies from 100 to 84.
The Secretary position remains vacant.
